I have written and illustrated a children's book about daylilies. The book, My Grandparents' Daylilies, is the only children's book about daylilies. A ten year old girl visits her grandparents where she learns about daylilies. Children and adults will learn about daylily types, characteristics, labeling, and how to pollinate daylily blooms. Fifty watercolor illustrations make learning easy and enjoyable. The book is endorsed by the American Hemerocallis Society and is printed in a 9" X 12" hardbound edition. The book sells on this site for $15.00 including shipment. Please contact me by e-mail for group prices at: Patx2@conwaycorp.net
This IS an amazing book that tells a gentle story of legacy, learning and love. Its a precious story, that will please adults and kids alike. The illustrations are awesome and carefully considered, too! Absolutely recommend this one for your bookshelf. And a copy to your local library would be great, too! With gratitude, Nikki Schmith- President, American Hemerocallis Society
This is an amazing book not only for children but also for anyone just beginning to learn about daylilies. I ordered this book for my 8 yr old granddaughter who has already started to hybridize daylilies. But, as a novice, myself...this book explains in easy to complex terminology the process as well as all the parts of the daylily, the different flowers and flower characteristics. I have been a member of AHS for just a few years and this book would be an awesome guide for any new AHS member. The story of Kate and her cell phone is an ongoing battle for both children and adults. The lure of nature is a wonderful tool to get children/adults in to the beautiful world of daylilies and the outdoors. Thank you so much. I have just ordered a second book to keep for myself. I am a member of the Lone Star Daylily Society in Texas.
